My Make It Take It DIY Workshop!

How was your weekend? Mine was amazing! I held my Make It Take It DIY Workshop at the 2016 Washington, D.C. Capital Home Show. My first…and it was a fantastic experience! Here I am cheesing it up by the sign…

We made custom-painted doormats at my workshop. I modeled them after this project I did earlier this year! DecoArt graciously sponsored all of the paint for the workshop (we used Multi-Surface Satin Indoor/Outdoor Acrylics and the new Americana Decor Outdoor Living lines!), while Ikea College Park sponsored the doormats! I can’t thank both of my sponsors enough for providing the materials for this workshop. And thanks to the very lovely Denise from The Painted Home for organizing all of the workshops and providing backup to corral the crowds. 😉 If you don’t know Denise, you must check out her blog now! She was great to work with.

I brought homemade stencils for the workshop participants to use: hearts, houses, maple leaves, and trees. We also had plenty of duct tape on hand to make striped patterns. That’s what these two lovely ladies did, and didn’t they turn out great?

We even had one person hand paint designs onto her mat. She was so incredibly talented. She said she often drew tattoos…and I can definitely see that! I loved her style.

I also got to meet Evey from Evey’s Creations, Lynn from Fern Avenue, and Kelly from Stylish Patina! Make sure to check out their sites for tons of fun ideas.

If you couldn’t make it to the workshop but want to make your own, check out this post I did! It will walk you through the process from start to finish, just like we did in the workshop today. And Philly people, there is a chance I might see your home show in 2017! Stay tuned!
