Farewell!
I have been writing this post in my head for a while nowβI finally decided to just sit down, put fingers to keyboard, and write it: I have decided to retire my blog.
It has been a really great few years, and I’m thankful for all of the relationships and connections I’ve made. But if I’m being honest, running a DIY/home blog has lost some of the appeal it once had. I can’t really explain itβI guess I’m just burnt out. I work a full-time job, and keeping up with everything has become more of a chore than something I enjoy doing. Also, a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff like social media and the hustle of constantly trying to create good content for you has just become too much right now. I just know it’s time to retire things. I’m planning to keep all of my archives up, and I will probably keep my mailing list up in case I ever decide to come out of retirement for an occasional project or two. Which, knowing me, is likely π
So what’s next for me? I’m starting a new side project that will take me in a different direction. In the meantime, you can also always keep in touch with me over onΒ Instagram. I’ll still be doing some freelance painting and DIY projects that I’ll make sure to share there, too. π Oh, and I’ll still be pinning stuff when I’m bored.
But Before I Go…
But before I go, I want to take a walk down memory lane and share my ten favorite projects. Because I can’t just close up shop without browsing through my archives for a few hours and agonizing over whether this is the right decision or not. So here they are! (In no particular order, except obviously the cat tree is my favorite.)
$100 Room Challenge Powder Room Makeover
Stainless Steel Bowl Hanging Planter
Modern Multiuse Space Makeover
DIY Cat Tree Using Real Branches
I will miss seeing your creative ideas. I have bookmarked quite a few and am getting ready to do the feather duster painting using the same colors you used. (Cobalt blue is an accent color in my living room where the painting will be displayed.) I had looked online for art, but I liked your creation much more than anything I saw,
I wish you the best of everything and look forward to your occasional postings.
Alice! Thank you so much for your kind words. And thank you for following along. It was a tough decision, but I am looking forward to what’s next. And I can say with a reasonable degree of certainty that I’ll pop in on occasion to say hi π
I am sad to read this but look forward to seeing what you do next! I wish you much happiness & thank you for the inspiration!
Thank you Michelle! <3
We will miss you! I have loved all of your ORCs and all your home decor choices! Enjoy MN when you are here! π
I’m SO going to miss seeing your creative content! Best of luck with all your new adventures! Keep in touch and come visit me in Canada!
We’re going to Canada next month! But unfortunately very far away from you π
Brittany, I am so sorry to see you go. I have fond memories as I won the Craft/Storage Closet Make-Over and all the paints from Deco-Art. That was so fun and exciting. But I to know what it feels like when something is not as fun as it once was. You should always follow your heart. I hope you find what makes you happy and gives you ambition. I am not on Twitter but hope you come back every once in a while to update your status or provide a link as to what you are up to but only when you are ready. Thank you for all the wonderful projects, I really enjoyed them. ~ Veronica Roske
I remember, I hope you enjoyed your paints!! Thank you for you kind words <3
Brit your blog is amazing! Great ideas and witty writing always make it a good read. I’ll miss your posts and daydreaming about executing one of your DIYs… your entrepreneurship (did I actually spell that right?) is inspiring. Good luck on the next adventure! I’m sure it’ll be a hit and I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
I will miss seeing all of your projects in my feed! Good luck on your next new and exciting chapter! π
I’m not sad; I’m your mom and I get to see your creativity first-hand. I know that you will have PLENTY to keep you busy. I still don’t know how you kept of with such an amazing blog AND a full-time job. You are pretty darn amazing! Like everyone else, I will look forward to your new project(s). Love, mom
Dear Brittany,
I will miss reading your blog, however, I, a big believer in doing what one must do for their own happiness as if they are not happy they can’t make others happy. I can say this from experience as I’m 63 and have lived a lot in those years. Sooooooo, I wish and pray the best for you and great success in your new endeavor. I do hope you can find it in you to maybe update us just to let us know you dong well.
Very Sincerely,
Joy Gwilliam
Thank you so much Joy! I hope you’re right π
I am so going to miss your creative and gorgeous projects!! Wish you the best in all your future projects! Stay in touch!
I just want to say I can relate working as well. Its tough to blog and try to do all the things that you have to do to keep the blog alive. I enjoyed seeing your posts on the one Room Challenge.
