This post is part of my week of Christmas ornament DIYs series. I’m sharing 7 different DIY projects for clear ball ornaments, each of which you can complete in 30 minutes or less. Today I’m experimenting with alcohol ink to make abstract splatter patterns. You can see all of the DIYs here!

How to Make Gorgeous Abstract Alcohol Ink Glass Ornaments

Day 3, let’s jump right in! Today I’m sharing my DIY alcohol ink ornaments. It’s super easy. Like, if you aren’t good at painting or crafting but you’re good at using an eye dropper, stick around.

Here’s what I used.

And here’s how I made DIY alcohol ink ornaments.

Step 1: Pour paint into the ornament via the opening and rotate the bulb until the entire interior surface area is covered. Put upside down in a cup to drain extra paint out.

Step 2: Once the paint is dry, put the top and hook back on. “Paint” the alcohol ink onto the ornament.

I took a few different approaches: for some, I squirted the ink onto the top of the ornaments and let it drip down. Some I flipped the ornament upside down and let the ink drip “up.” On others, I did squiggles around the ornament for a more abstract look.

Step 3: You can hang them to dry, or if you’re pouring an ornament that’s upside down, just let it dry in place.
