Hey everyone, and happy Friday! Any big weekend plans? I’m in the middle of making a plant stand right now, so I want to finish that up. It’s the first time I’ve ever worked with zebra wood…it’s definitely different than working with pine, which is what I usually work with!
Here’s what the wood looks like…isn’t the grain awesome? It will look even better when I put some oil on the finished product.
I also mentioned a few weeks ago that I was picking up a new side gig as a monthly contributor for one of my favorite blogs, Pretty Handy Girl. Last week, Brittany from PHG posted my official welcome post and my first tutorial: a DIY wood-framed mirror!
This project is part of an entryway makeover I’m working on wrapping up and sharing soon. Also as part of the entryway project, I shared free plans to build a shoe cubby earlier this week. (Wanna see more entryway? You can check out my initial post here, which has before photos, plans, and some painting progress.
This week I also finished up my powder room makeover as part of the $100 room makeover challenge. (Check out the previous three weeks here: week 1 // week 2 // week 3.) Here’s a quick peek of the tiny space.
I also wanted to share a few pictures from what I did last weekend…the Women’s March on Washington! It was such an awesome experience. It’s really tough to describe how powerful it was, though. I have never seen such a diverse and positive group of men and women of all races, ages, and religions. This is one of my favorite pictures from the day. We climbed up a hill by the Capitol to try to get a better view of the crowds…and wow. It worked:
What a cool shot. I only teared up a few times during the day, too. I was so lucky to be able to experience this historic event with this gal, too…I have know Melody for a decade now, and I credit a lot of my successes to her friendship and guidance. She is kind of amazing. <3
And just two more shots from the day that I thought were cool:
How beautiful is this little girl? I think her sign captures it all. Ah, I am getting emotional all over again. Sorry about that 🙂 Did you attend a march, or do you know someone who did?
Until next week, have a great weekend!
