Let me share a secret with you…
I suck at decorative painting on canvases.
Sure, I’ve had one successful attempt at decorative painting on a canvas using a feather duster, but that was pretty much idiot proof. I’ve recently had a few other complete canvas art fails. First, I tried to do that drip art that you see all over Pinterest. Sharrah says it’s super easy in this YouTube video, and either she is lying or I am just awful. Probably the latter.

Complete garbage from me (that I sold at a yard sale for $5, btw):
Then I tried to do some art using painter’s tape, which you also see a lot of on Pinterest. I saw a piece that used painter’s tape to make trees, so I got the bright idea to do that. Then, I would use the gold leaf that I’d purchased for the drippy canvas as foliage. You guys, it looks like a 3rd grader made it.

The canvas in need of deforestation from me:
It’s not like me to give up on a DIY. I am *pretty* stubborn when it comes to letting things beat me. But I called uncle after the sad forest and decided to take another approach: fabric. And guess what? It turned out amazing. I’m so happy with it! Have a look:
